Meet Zi Yi

Your donations and prayers help Zi Yi and assisted with an amazing Christmas celebration. Here is a little about this sweet girl.

Dear COAT Inc family and friends,

This is Zi Yi, our youngest baby in Eagles’ Wings One. I went around after all the kids were asleep and gave them a stocking full of knick knacks from Santa. I gave Zi Yi a lovely soft pink pig. She wasn’t asleep, but I figured she didn’t mind that I didn’t look like Santa, but when I touched her with the pink pig, she burst out laughing…. Pretty good for a four month old. She didn’t react at all to the flash of the camera, which probably means she has no sight at all…. But she will grow up in this sighted family and we will use what we are learning for our two other vision impaired babies and she will grow up well. She is still up for grabs for sponsorship, so spread the word….. am not asking you for more as you already give hugely…. And thank you for that, it makes it possible for all this to happen. Thank you so much for all your p.r.aying, giving and going.

You will be helping Hong Wei, Fu Xing, Yuan Yuan and Liu Er

Thank you everyone for your continued support in the Christmas fundraiser. I thought it would be nice to continue to introduce you to the children that you will be helping. Meet Hong Wei, Fu Xing, Yuan Yuan and Liu Er.

Dear COAT Family and Friends, here is some news about four of our children.

I was chatting to Lou Huan on skype tonight. Here is some of what she told me. These four children now live in Eagles’ Wings Two. They now understand that they are not orphans and that they have a family and they do not live in the orphanage. This has raised their self esteem hugely. They are growing up like other children.

Lou Huan says:
Hong Wei , Fu Xing, Yuan Yuan and Liu Er had mid semester exams last week.
Hong Wei's Chinese and all his results are excellent.
Fu Xing: Chinese 66 Math:76
: Yuan Yuan: Math 79
Liu Er : Chinese 22 math 57
We asked Liu Er how many friends does she at school ? She is very happy to tell us she has 3. You could feel she is very happy to have friends so we told her that is very good. She could invite her friends to Eagles’ Wings 2 at the weekend
The decision is very right to move them to public school:-) They are not afraid to talk with strangers now and they are very happy every day.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Lou Huan couldn’t remember Yuan Yuan’s Chinese results, but her maths is very very good for her. Liu Er was upset about her Chinese results and she went off to do her homework without an argument last night.

.
I will take the other three out to dinner with just me, a special Nai Nai night as a reward for passing. If Liu Er continues to do her homework without an argument, then she can join us… not for the results, but for her attitude.

.
She is very clever, but she tends to be lazy. A speech therapist came with CHI last year and taught us how to get Liu Er to exercise her mouth to strengthen it against the cerebral palsy so that she doesn’t dribble. It is working and she is happy about that… but she has to do the exercises every day.

.
Yuan Yuan (front) and Liu Er on the new tricycle I bought them in October. Both girls have cerebral palsy issues, but the trike is good exercise for them. The estate where we live is beautiful and safe for children to ride around the lanes. They can ride down to the creek and catch guppies and yabbies. In fact Hong Wei and Fu Xing have a pet yabby in the babies’ bathroom. They pinched a metal bowl that I had in the toy box and then they were pinching meat out of the fridge to feed the yabby. The ayi caught them getting the meat and since then, the poor yabby has lived on tofu. The darned thing is still alive and it scares the babies when it scuttles around the metal bowl if the babies are sitting in the bath.

Hong Wei is in front and Fu Xing is at the back. It is Fu Xing’s bike. Hong Wei loaned his to a teacher that afternoon. Hong Wei had only just mastered the art of riding a bicycle two days before I took this picture. See the shed doors behind them, we rent one of those to keep our van in and also there is a work bench where our driver does repairs. In his spare time, he is our repairman. He taught Hong Wei how to ride a bike.

.
Fu Xing had cancer in one kidney when he was a tot. I met him first then just after surgery to remove the kidney. He is healthy now. A local lady wants to adopt him, but it costs 30 000Y for that to happen. I asked God to choose a new family for him although Hong Wei will be upset to lose his brother. Hong Wei’s last brother went to America and now lives in Chicago. Hong Wei was very sad about that although they connect on skype sometimes although not so much lately as he is busy with school and playing with the other kids in the estate.

.
So you see, they are growing up very well and all because you all care enough to pray and/or give and/or go.

Feel free to send this email on to anyone you think may be interested.

Calling all movies!

Ladies,

I need your help and I think this may be easy for us to do! Jenny Nai Nai emailed me last night and had a brilliant idea for something that we can send to the kids. She asked if I could pick up a few kids movies and classics. She is especially eager to have some Christmas movies as Eagles Wings is a Christian Foster Home and finding Christian materials in China is impossible.

I bet we all have some kids movies that we could pass along. Will you check your DVD collection and see what you have? If you are near me, I am happy to come pick them up. If you are far, I would happily pay for postage to my house so I could send them in the next package.

I am really excited about this opportunity.

A Few Classic Ideas:

Mary Popins

The Sound of Music

If you have anything, either leave me a comment or email me at armiller1972@yahoo.com and we can coordinate getting the movies together. Duplicates are ok, because there are 3 Eagles Wings homes!

You Will Be Helping Ma Tai

Ma Tai is one of the children who will benefit from this fundraiser for the holidays. This young man is in desperate need of love and I think that we can help. Here is a story of how he recently came to Eagles Wing written by Jenny, the resident Nai Nai.

I would like to share a really special story with you about Ma Tai.

I live in Eagles’ Wings Three. It is a family home, set up on the fifth floor of the administration building of the orphanage. Although Eagles’ Wings Three is in the orphanage compound, it is run completely by Chinese Orphans’ Assistance Team (C.O.A.T). and funded by sponsorship of the children, beds and ayies (nannies).

Several people had asked me to try to bring Ma Tai to Eagles’ Wings Three, but I didn’t have room or funds until this week when a team from CHI came to bring more love the kids. Several of these beautiful ladies from various parts of the world approached me to find out if it was possible for him to come here, if they sponsored a bed for him.

I went to look at him and one of the ladies told me he had a broken spirit and that they were concerned he would die. He was just skin and bones. He was such a quiet little boy, but in the ward where he was, the other children can be violent and he had no way to protect himself. Some team members from the past could not believe how sad he had become since they saw him last. The orphanage is short staffed because the pension and insurance bill is high, so 20 ayis were dismissed so that remaining orphanage workers. Some children are tied up all day and others locked in. So I told the CHI team members I would see what I would do.

While I was in Hong Kong recently I visited the Amazing Grace book store and the kind man there gave me some dvds for the children. When I came back to my room after talking to the CHI team, I was playing one of these dvds for the children. From this dvd, the words “broken spirit” hit me. It was like Our Father saying: “What are you waiting for?”

All I could do was cry and wait for my interpreter who was off till the next day.

I approached the team and asked for prayer as I needed to set up an appointment to gain the permission I needed with the director. The next morning it took me quite some time to arrange to see Director Li. Eventually, he sent word that he was too busy to see me, but he told us to just go the to orphanage and see the ayi in charge.

She didn’t even blink before she gave approval.

Ma Tai was too weak to walk, so a strong man from the team carried him up the five flights of stairs.

All prayers for this rescue were answered wonderfully by Our Father. It reduced me to tears of great joy.

Once he arrived I asked the ayi to shower him and she was shocked at the bones showing and gently showered him and dressed him in nice clean clothes. He was starving. It was lunchtime.

He was given noodles and banana. He was so afraid the food would be taken from him that he didn’t even chew his food just gulped it down so someone else didn’t eat it.

He doesn’t smile, and has no emotion. Just looks very sad. But here we will give him love and care and The Father of Orphans will take care of the rest.

The ladies on team have been wonderful and supplied lovely new clothes and shoes for him and today he looked so much better. Please continue to pray for him. Love changes things and God is Love.
